COVID and breast cancer care in London
The Coronavirus pandemic has transformed the NHS provision of care across the whole country and in London we have witnessed a reconfiguration as some hospitals specialise in delivering care. The Royal Brompton and Harefield have formed a hub for heart disease, St Bartholomew’s for emergency elective treatment and the Royal Marsden has become the hub for delivering cancer for patients across the city.
The hub model ensures that the NHS can continue to deliver as much cancer treatment as possible across the capital. Patients will remain under the care of their doctor or nurse specialist at their local trust, but they may have their surgery at the Royal Marsden. The aim is to match patients who require surgery with the appropriate expert team.
In his role as Chair of Surgical Audit and Clinical Lead for Plastic Surgery, Mr Kelvin Ramsey has been assisting in this endeavour. To find out more, call 020 3764 0399 to arrange a consultation with Mr Ramsey.
